The Wood Between Worlds

An ode to uncertainty.

The
wood between worlds is a beautiful place,

Yet it can also be loathsome.

It is an in-between sanctuary;

A holy place, a place where time stops,

Away from the has-beens of the past, and the not-yets of the future.

A place where our insides can be laid bare: raw, open, unencumbered.

It's like a blank canvas, just waiting to be painted.

There's something comforting, also disconcerting about this place.

We find comfort in the belief that anything can happen;

Yet fear descends on us like the thundering of horses;

As though we might drown in the vast ocean of freedom.

This place is the vortex where innovation, inspiration and ideas converge.

But when we learn to sit with the dissonance,

Becoming familiar with the chaos of the unknown;

We can find refuge in the sanctity of this place.

Knowing that it's not forever.

This is the birthplace of creativity.

The wood between worlds is from The Magician's Nephew (C.S. Lewis) - one of the Chronicles of Narnia books. It's a fantastic read, even for an adult.

This is a quote from the book;

"Make your choice, adventurous Stranger;
Strike the bell and bide the danger,
Or wonder, til it drives you mad,
What would have followed if you had."
