Creating Connection through Communication and the Importance of Intercultural Connectedness and Acceptance

This workshop can be done in a half-day or a full day format.

The first part of the day we will focus on communication.

Communication is the building block in creating meaningful relationships both in the workplace and outside the workplace. Awareness of the power of language and how words build up or tear down is the first step in creating connection and belonging.

Approaching communication from a mindfully strength-based perspective has been proven again and again as a very effective way to build connection and stimulate positive growth and change. Strength-based communication can be a shift when we aren’t used to thinking in those terms.

Learning Objectives:

  • Participants will leave with a greater understanding of the power of language.

  • Participants will have a greater understanding about mindfulness and communication.

The second half of the day will focus on worldview and intercultural connectedness.

We will explore worldview and the reasons why we see the world the way we do. As human beings it’s natural to put things in categories and to make judgements. Understanding why we do this is the first step in creating a state of mindfulness, which in turn creates a sense of acceptance for people who think and believe differently than we do.

Learning Objectives:

  • Participants will understand a worldview is, and how our worldview affects our perceptions of what we see and experience in others.

  • Participants will understand why our brains naturally judge, where our judgments come from, and learn options to choose a more mindful approach when reacting to our perceptions.
