Turning Over a New Leaf...
In my neck of the woods, the transition from summer to fall is the most stark of all season changes. One day we're sitting by the pool pounding back iced coffee, the next we're wearing sweaters, sipping pumpkins spice lattes, and raking leaves...(not all at the same time, of course).
I find the doldrums of January quite difficult, so I find very little zeal or delight in the start of the official new year.
Even though I haven't been in school myself for many, many years, September seems like the start of something new - a clean slate, a white canvas. So for the last few years September has become my new year.
Summer was slow and a little tough for me to be honest, so September has come in fresh and clean and full of new possibilities.
For me the theme for this season is expansion and abundance. Things are changing for me, and sometimes change feels really uncomfortable, I'm certainly feeling that little niggle of anxiety. I'm deliberately choosing to be OK with the discomfort, to realize that all growth is accompanied by discomfort. I also believe in the abundance that comes with life (not just monetary abundance).
What does this new season hold for you? Will it be a time to expand and try new things, or a time to embrace connection and ease by saying no to things? Will you take on a new challenge or spend time nurturing relationships?
I encourage you to spend some time meditating on how you want to feel, and what course you want your life to take in this upcoming season. Just letting life happen, come what may, tends to yield sentiments like this - "Crap, how did a whole year pass, and I'm still doing the same old same old. Nothing's different." I understand this from a personal perspective. At 41 (I'm 43 now), I decided that I was done with just letting time pass. Time is finite and I want to be deliberate with it.
Often people love the synergy that comes from doing this kind of work in community. It can be hard to find the time, without distractions, to really give the work the kind of attention it needs. Luminate Wellness is offering a workshop called Whole Living With Potent Clarity. It is a workshop about living intentionaly.
This is not a formulaic approach, there are no formulas, it's not like "the secret" (the law of attraction), it's not a one-size-fits all approach. It's about living intentionally. YOU are the expert on YOU! You get to decide what you need, and the workshop will help you discover what is already within you, waiting to be unearthed.
If a workshop is not for you, or you live far from the Fraser Valley, and you want to pick up one of the Desire Map book - here's a link to purchase some amazing products! daniellelaporte.com
So with that....Happy New Year!
